![]() ![]() The importance of spiritual assessment in the realm of psychotherapy are discussed followed by debate on the difficulties encountered in the conceptualization of the spiritual construct. The recognition of spirituality as a dynamic health promoting agent and rejection of anti-spirituality movements are highlighted. This chapter begins with a general overview of the relationship spirituality and psychology have shared over the course of the development of the field. Retrospectively registered on the 06/07-2021. Finally, valuable knowledge regarding factors enhancing the feasibility was discovered, including prioritizing breathing exercises, a spacious NF treatment room and personalization of the NF treatment protocol.Ĭ ID: NCT05055037. Our results demonstrated how the participants found NF to be an acceptable and recommendable method of treatment even though they did not benefit from it. Furthermore, the importance of thorough, repetitive, and understandable information about the NF equipment’s capabilities was highlighted. This underlines the importance of clear communication, including the adjustment of participants’ expectations regarding what symptoms the NF treatment protocol is designed to treat. ![]() The results show that facilitation of successful treatment was challenged by both the participants’ misaligned expectations of the treatment outcome as well as their comprehension of the NF equipment, which did not match the actual capabilities. The analysis resulted in three main themes: 1) Positivity despite unfulfilled expectations 2) Understanding of the NF treatment 3) Facilitating factors for feasible NF treatment. ![]() The analysis was carried out in four steps, using a hermeneutic and phenomenological approach. Using in-depth semi-structured interviews, the participants’ thoughts and expectations prior to participating in NF treatment as well as their experiences with the treatment after a few training sessions were examined. In the qualitative part of the feasibility study, a subsample of eight participants was interviewed. This qualitative study was a part of an NF feasibility study carried out at CTP, offering 34 trauma-affected refugees 12 sessions of NF. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of an NF-based intervention for trauma-affected refugees focusing on aspects relevant for optimizing the NF experience and clinical practice. However, few studies have focused on the patient experience with NF and even fewer take on the perspective of refugees. The use of Neurofeedback (NF) to assist individuals in learning to regulate their brain wave activity have shown promising results in reducing symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PSTD). The primary question of this chapter is: What are the best practices in teaching Islamic practical theology which prepare Muslim social work students to connect theological understanding to the everyday experience of Muslims in the community, society and the world? The second question is: How do Muslim social workers use daily life practices as an “epistemic weight” in the production of new knowledge in Islamic social work? Finally, the chapter discusses the question of whether Islamic practical theology, including Islamic doctrine, tradition, and the “living human document”, holds a central position in Islamic social work. Taking into account a revival of new approaches to teaching Islamic practical theology, this paper provides reflection on the methods for teaching it, based on a new and broader understanding of theology in Islam. In this respect, Islamic practical theology provides certain theories and methods as a solid foundation for Islamic social work practice. The purpose of this chapter is to highlight the main arguments in the development of Islamic social work practice. ![]()
